Northumberland Environment and Climate Fund
We are offering grants ranging from £250 to £5,000 from a pot of £50,000 for projects aiming to help the environment and tackle climate change.
Examples of previous projects include insulation for cinemas and community pubs, repair cafes, active travel schemes, sustainability workshops, LED lights, solar panels, and heat pumps.
Deadline: 27 February 2026.

Carbon emissions
Projects that reduce carbon emissions and other climate warming gases
Engagement
Projects that focus on engaging the wider community on climate change issues and action
Heating
Schemes to reducing heat loss and heat waste in your community
Transport
Schemes to reduce the need to travel and increase cycling, walking and use of public transport
Energy
Schemes that reduce consumption of energy and install low carbon or renewable forms of energy
Sequestration
Projects that increase the removal of carbon from the atmosphere through nature-based solutions
Waste
Projects that minimise waste, reduce, reuse, and recycle
Eligibility>
Applicants must be based in Northumberland and fall into one of the following groups:

Voluntary or community groups

Registered Charity
-
Constituted group or club
-
Community interest company (CIC)

Social enterprise
-
Town or Parish Councils.

Faith groups may also apply as long as projects are open to, and benefit the whole community
Schools are not eligible to apply, however, we will accept applications from constituted PTAs, School Charities and “Friends of” groups for projects that do not form part of core/mainstream education as long as they remain in the ownership of the group and not the school. For example, forest schools and bike sheds.
