We use data from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to track Northumberland’s greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2021, Northumberland emitted 2,460 kilotonnes of greenhouse gases and absorbed 390.4 kilotonnes.
This leaves Northumberland’s net emissions at 2,069.7 kilotonnes. Our aim is to reduce this to zero.
These figures are based on national data released in July 2023.
This diagram shows where our emissions came from. This helps us to understand our biggest emitters and where we can make the most impact.
