About the event
Northumberland County Council is working in partnership with the Ministry of Eco Education to launch the ‘Climate Change and Sustainability in Northumberland: Schools resource pack’. There has been a rise in eco-anxiety amongst young people across the UK and this resource is designed to equip teachers and other school staff with the knowledge and tools they need to help alleviate this anxiety. This is a Northumberland-focused climate education resource which looks at the issues and solutions around climate change, at a local level, to help empower schools to make small changes that make a big difference. The resource supports national ambitions set out by the Department of Education, in line with the UKs Net Zero 2050 target, to incorporate sustainability and climate change education into UK schools by 2030, including the ambition for every school to nominate a sustainability lead by 2025 and to put in place a climate action plan.
